Phone Wallpaper Sizes: 1080 × 1920, Cropping & AMOLED
Wallpaper resolution is only the starting point. The final result also depends on aspect ratio, UI overlays, device cropping, launcher behavior, and where the artwork places its brightest subject.

1. What the published sizes mean
Pixel dimensions describe the file, not a guarantee that every device will show every edge. A phone with a taller screen may crop a 9:16 file at the sides or enlarge it; a shorter screen may crop the top and bottom.

2. Why phones crop wallpapers
Wallpaper pickers fill the screen instead of adding empty bars. When file and screen aspect ratios differ, the picker enlarges and crops. Lock Screen clocks, widgets, camera cutouts, and Home Screen icons create additional composition constraints.
Cosmic Throttle phone art places important subjects inside a practical central area, but you should still inspect the real device preview. Preserve the focal subject first; losing a small amount of atmosphere at an edge is usually less damaging than cutting through the car or Milky Way core.
3. Treat Lock and Home Screens differently
- Lock Screen: preserve the hero subject and leave readable space for the clock.
- Home Screen: prioritize icon and label contrast; a darker crop or blur may work better.
- Wallpaper pair: use when the artwork remains clear under both UI systems.
- Separate screens: use when a cinematic Lock Screen is too detailed behind apps.
4. AMOLED-friendly does not mean invisible
OLED and AMOLED pixels emit their own light, so true black areas can remain unlit. Actual power use varies with the panel, brightness, image, and time on screen; a dark wallpaper is not a fixed battery-life promise.

5. Preserve sharpness
